A Closer Look at Mondial Condos and East Bayfront
For a long time the City of Toronto has been crying out for a bigger connection to the amazing waterfront. The public’s cries were heard as the City is now going through a huge revitalization effort – one so important that the impact is so tremendous. The land in question is approximately 800 hectares that will cost approximately $1.5 billion to revitalize but will create some 40,000 jobs in the process (WaterfronToronto [sic]). One major, major area for this revitalization project will be East Bayfront. There is so much buzz surrounding this area – and for good reason. Here is a quick overview of the plan’s around East Bayfront:
- -Boundaries: From Lower Jarvis Street to Parliament Street, Lake Shore Boulevard to Lake Ontario.
- -Size: Approximately 23 Hectares (55 Acres)
- -Features: 6000 new residential units, 3 million square feet of commercial space, 8000 new jobs, 5.5 hectares of parks and public space, and 1km of continuous water’s edge promenade

The former industrial land in this prime waterfront location is being transformed into a thriving new destination. The area will have two signature parks: Sherbourne Park and Canada’s Sugar Beach, along-with a water’s edge promenade spanning both parks. Corus Entertainment have already begun the construction of it’s brand new head-quarters and the area will also be home to a brand new George Brown College campus. Other exciting developments involve the south-east corner of East Bayfront – “Bayside” is the largest parcel of land being developed by WaterfronToronto to-date and is being led by Hines (A World-Premier Real Estate firm). This entire area will be transformed from an industrial area into a hot new neighborhood.

Other exciting development is a brand new project by Great Gulf Homes and designed by the world-renowned architect, Moshe Safdie. The official title of this development is currently unknown but the name “Mondial” and “Parkside” has been doing the rounds over the internet – however, our sources indicate otherwise. Either way, Great Gulf are planning to create a premier residential and commercial address – one that will overlook Sherbourne Park and also offer stunning lake views.
