Life in a Taller Toronto Condo Tower
Humanity has always admired those who have reached for the stars. With the world’s largest residential towers now poised to become taller than 1,400 feet, condo developers all over the world are not only reaching for the stars – they are making it possible to live among them.
Current Feats in Residential Buildings
Currently the highest residential building in the world is located in the heart of Manhattan. Standing at 426 meters high, 432 Park Avenue earned it’s title of the tallest in the world when it was completed in 2015. To give an idea of scale, the CN Tower in Toronto only stands 127 metres taller.
This project has become one of the world’s most exclusive places to live in as it only houses 104 apartments. Just recently the 96th floor penthouse of this tower sold for 95 million dollars US.
Currently under construction, the World One tower in Lower Parel, South Mumbai is looking to dethrone 432 Park Avenue when its construction finishes sometime in 2018.
Toronto’s History With Going Bigger
Some may question why is there a need to build such tall buildings? While some may say it’s excessive, others may argue that the citizens of Toronto have always been invested in the height of its buildings. They are particularly invested the giant tower that stands 553-meters tall in the heart of the city. Since 1976, the iconic Canadian National Tower has served as a beacon of pride and strength of the Canadian structural engineering. In 2007, the CN tower lost it’s title as the largest freestanding structure in the world to the Burj Dubai and since has become the third tallest structure in the world much to the chagrin of Toronto residents.
Taller Condo Living in Toronto
For those looking to sleep among the clouds in Toronto, you don’t have to wait for the CN tower to make living accommodations in its observation deck. The current tallest residential tower in Canada is the Aura located near Yonge and College. Standing tall at 272 metres, the Aura is also the 23rd largest residential/condominium in the world. However there is a new Toronto condo development in pre-construction just up the street that is poised to soon become the tallest residential tower in the country and is poised to crack the world’s top 10.
The One Condos
When the construction of the One Condos is complete, the next time you’re in midtown Toronto – or virtually any district of the city for that matter – residents will be able to bear witness to the sheer scale and size of the massive project.
The current development proposal is poised to make The One Condo tower the tallest in Canada standing at 304 metres tall, towering above First Canadian Place office tower currently standing tall at 298 metres.
One of the most common issues people have with their condo’s view is that it’s obstructed by another tower. At these heights, there is no call for concern. Akin to the view from the CN Tower observation deck, the view from the One Tower will stretch out well past Lake Ontario and the rest of the city.
While living in the heavens has its allure, heading to the ground level of this condo isn’t too bad either. Located right in the heart of the Yorkville district, the One Tower is positioned in one of Canada’s finest corridors rich with it’s world class shopping, dining and entertainment options.
Given on the history of other projects designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Mizrahi Developments, the size of the tower should also be matched by the great design and detail. Recent plans have revealed a unique diamond design pattern running up the base of the tower.
