New Condo Development Above the LCBO at King & Spadina?
For our Valentines Day competition, we created a fake “Dream Condo” that would sit on top of the Steamwhistle Brewery for the “ultimate amenity” of living on top of a brewery.
Well, our wish has (kind of) come true.
A proposal is currently in the works for a redevelopment of the site at King & Spadina (401-415 King Street West), otherwise known as the LCBO. The plan will keep the LCBO in it’s current location and a new 39 storey condominium built on top (I wonder if LCBO will arrange for a room delivery service). Urban Toronto were the first to tweet about the the new rendering which looks AWESOME (below), and there is a discussion about the project over at the BuzzBuzzHome forums.
Rendering of the new LCBO redevelopment at King & Spadina
We’ve spoken at length about how we believe the Entertainment District around King & Spadina/John is going to smoking hot for years to come as the redevelopment takes place. Many are predicting this stretch of King will become the “new Yorkville” as high end retail joins the high end hotels and Toronto International Film Festival in this area. There is huge room for growth in this location.
This development, along with the redevelopment of the Gretsky’s at Mercer & Blue Jays Way (Find out what the fne folk at BuzzBuzzHome dug up on the Gretsky’s redevelopment here) are two very interesting re-developments that we have our eye on in the coming month. We are super excited for this development – can you tell??
