CentreCourt Developments in partnership with SmartREIT have announced Transit City Condos, an ambitious 100-acre re-development that aims to completely transform the future of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) into a more urban location that will be complete with vibrant public spaces, world class commercial offices, and condo buildings designed by some of the smartest people in urban planning and development.
The future of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre has been a hot topic for the last 12 months and the ambition of the City planners is there for all to see. They are not looking to develop a typical “suburban Downtown” but the multi billion dollar plan involves creating a true work, live and play environment.
At the heart of the growth for the VMC is transit. When the new subway extension opens at the end of 2017, Vaughan Metropolitan Centre will be the last stop on the line (or the first stop on the line, depending on which way you look at it) which gives this area incredible connectivity to key amenities along the subway line. Union Station is just 40 minutes away, while access to York University is just 5 minutes away and Yorkdale Mall is just 15 minutes south.
The entire plan for Transit City will span 100 acres and include a 9 acre central park that runs approximately 1km in length that will be designed by Claude Cormier + Associes and will become the place that connects the entire development together.

1 – Transit City Condos will be zero minutes to the Subway
Transit City is just steps to the TTC stop, and far closer than any of other condo projects in Vaughan. Transit City is also located adjecent to the York regional transit station and offers local and rapid transit to all nine York Regional municipalities.
2 – 5 Star Lobby Experience
CentreCourt have placed huge emphasis on the lobby design at Transit City, borrowing inspiration from 5 star hotels where lobbies are a place to meet and gather. The lobby will feature a stunning BUCA-branded restaurant and a BAR BUCA, marking the first BUCA outside of Downtown Toronto.
This will immediately help elevate this as a “place” in Vaughan and the importance of the BUCA lobby should not be understated.

One of the major take aways from todays press conference was that the future of Vaughan is in very good hands. Transit City is going to be developed in the best location in the VMC, immediately adjecent to the subway station and regional transit hub. This is centre ice in the brand new neighbourhood.
